To whet your appetite and welcome the summer, we're joining the BYD Launch Party, featuring a sneak peek at a 2025 headliner, Expanding Sanctuary, and the return of a favorite from 2024, Georgie.
Winner of the Philadelphia Filmmaker Award at the BlackStar Film Festival, Expanding Sanctuary tells the remarkable story of an immigrant mother who finds her voice as a community leader, organizing her Latinx neighborhood to successfully challenge the Philadelphia Police Department’s data-sharing with ICE.
Georgie follows a former Philly “wise-guy” who considers his past life in crime, his family, and his loves.
