HOLDING LIAT
We start with JFilm's presentation of Holding Liat, the complex exploration of one family in the middle of the war in Gaza. It focuses on Yehuda, a left-leaning Israeli-American with a lifelong commitment both to Israel and to justice for the Palestinian people. When his like-minded daughter Liat is taken hostage by Hamas on 10/7/23, the family's anguish becomes microcosmic of an internally-conflicted country.
Followed by a "Film Schmooze" discussion led by Dr. Hilla Nehushtan, University of Pittsburgh

DOCUMENTARY DECONSTRUCTION
Want to get the behind-the-scenes story of the making of a documentary? Courtesy of Keylight, here's your chance.
Join filmmaker Bill Holman (owner, WolfGoat Media) along with Chris Delp and Joe Serkoch (co-owners, Orionvega) for an in-depth look at the making of the short doc Spanuth Armada: A Redemption Story.
The workshop explores the filmmaking process from first spark to final cut. Participants will learn about the challenges of filming a demanding mountain climbing trek, including the practical realities of camera rigs, equipment choices, and shooting techniques. The editorial and sound design process will be broken down, and the project timeline examined to show how scenes were structured and refined, and footage from multiple cameras balanced through color work.
The session will be interactive and discussion-driven, ideal for filmmakers and filmgoers alike.
