MATTER OUT OF PLACE
at the CMU International Film Festival
Nikolaus Geyrhalther’s documentary follows the path of human waste across the planet, discovering where the trash we “dispose” of ultimately ends up. The impression of untouched scenery cripples before the viewer's eyes as immense amounts of waste come into view. Accompanied by beautiful cinematography of blooming life and detritus, this film underscores our efforts to remove waste and maintain our perception of “clean.” Will humanity keep its head above its mounting waste?
Discussion led by CMU Professor of Anthropology, Noah Theriault, followed by a catered reception.
