DECEMBER 2022 at the SALON

Erased Histories
Lasse Lau is the Visiting Documentary Filmmaker at Robert Morris University.
He presents two films that peer at, and listen to, the remains of elusive pasts.

HANG ON, HANG TIGHT (2022, 37 min.)

A film exploring an almost forgotten riot. During the 1950's, queer patrons of a bar in New Orleans fought back against police harassment, long before the Stonewall riots and the rise of the LGBTQIA+ movement.

SOUND FROM THE HALLWAYS  (2012, 25 min.)
This video work takes us through a series of the Egyptian Museum's antique collections. As objects of men, women, pharoahs, animals and armies slowly glide past the viewer's gaze, something intrusive is on the verge of happening. An artistic collaboration with the Cairo-based sound artist Maurice Louca.
