at the Row House Cinema
Edith Bouvier Beale is a cousin of Jackie Kennedy Onassis. But the glamour dissolves once you enter Grey Gardens, the dilapidated mansion in the Hamptons where she and her mother live. Legendary filmmakers Albert and David Maysles stepped in the world of Big Edie and Little Edie in 1975, and the result was the haunting, strange, funny, and entirely engrossing Grey Gardens.
The lovely Row House Cinema is screening the documentary Sept 10-16, along with other arthouse classics from the 1970s. The Doc Salon is going on Wednesday, Sept. 15 @ 7pm. Admission is FREE to Salon Members who RSVP by 9/12. Not a paid member yet? $15* gets you in to this and a whole year's worth of screenings and events. Here's how to join.
If you've never seen Grey Gardens, or have only caught it on video, this is a good one to experience on the big screen--you'll get entangled with the Edies just like the filmmakers did! Afterward, we will find a spot in Lawrenceville to have a drink and discuss.
