JULY 2021 at the SALON

Life Overtakes Me

with filmmakers Kris Samuelson and John Haptas

This month it's the Oscar-nominated, multi-award winning short film about a strange phenomenon among refugee children in Sweden.  First observed in the 1990's, hundreds of children facing an uncertain future have "shut down"--entered a coma-like state, or what has been called Resignation Syndrome.  Life Overtakes Me immerses viewers in the lives of three families over the course of a year as their anguished parents struggle to care for their stricken children.

Filmmakers Kristine Samuelson and John Haptas will join us for a Zoom session to talk about the film and the thorny issues  surrounding the topic.  The Salonline discussion is Wednesday, July 28 @ 8:00p.

Running time is 40 minutes. Those of you who attended the Oscar Doc Shorts program in February 2020 will recall this one.
