Lotsa news...
- MAY SALONLINE: Misha and the Wolves, with the JFilm Festival, starting now through May 2. More below.
- WANT TO STAY on the email list? You must "SUBSCRIBE" HERE, if you haven’t already. The current list is being retired in a month.
- BECOME A MEMBER, if you haven’t already! You’ll get free and deep-discounted admissions to public and private events throughout the year, for only $15-30 (or $0 for students/low-income).
- FILMS WANTED! If you have produced a documentary or know of someone local who has, send a link and I, in consult with other members, will consider it for a 2021 Salon booking. You will be paid a screening fee of $50-150, depending on running time. I'm also booking works-in-progress (no fee paid for those).
- THE BIG EVENT in 2021 (or 2022): The Salon will present “Lenses on the Law”, a screening + discussion of how cameras of all types have impacted policing and criminal justice. The centerpiece will be a remarkable series of short films that followed the Pittsburgh Police in 1970-71. Our screening will be the Pittsburgh Premiere of these films, 50 years later! The dates, venue, and form are TBD. Salon volunteers will be needed, so stay tuned.
- MISHA AND THE WOLVES is about a 7-year old Belgian girl whose parents were deported by the Nazis during World War II. She sets out to find them, and what follows is a thrilling story of survival including help from, yes, a pack of wolves. But is Misha’s adventure a tall tale? Misha and the Wolves is presented by the 28th Annual JFilm Festival, happening now virtually through May 2. As a Community Partner of JFilm, the Doc Salon has arranged for FREE passes for online screening of the film for the first 13 Salon Members who RSVP.
- The Salonline Zoom discussion of Misha is Monday, May 3 at 8:00p.
