FEBRUARY 2021 at the SALON

Wendell Freeland: A Quiet Soldier

presented by member Billy Jackson

Tuskegee Airman.  Civil Rights attorney.  Powerful advocate for the poor and disenfranchised.  Wendell Freeland devoted seventy years to fighting injustice wherever he found it, from the age of Jim Crow to that of Barack Obama.  He blazed a trail for racial equality by working largely behind the scenes in America's courtrooms, boardrooms and political backrooms.

Wendell Freeland: A Quiet Soldier is a moving portrait of the late Pittsburgh-based legal pioneer, made by acclaimed filmmaker and Salon member Billy Jackson.  The screening will be followed by a Zoom discussion with Billy and guest Lisa Freeland, daughter of Wendell and civil rights "soldier" in her own right.

This is a free event.  Password for streaming the film will be released on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

Zoom Discussion will be Wednesday, February 17 @ 8:30p.
