AUGUST 2020 at the SALON

FURSONAS
with filmmaker Dominic Rodriguez
COVID KO'd the Furry convention in Pittsburgh this summer, but the Salonline is reviving the critters with this Pittsburgh-made, award-winning documentary.

From the filmmaker:

Fursonas is about the furry community--people who identify with animals and wear sometimes cartoon animal costumes.

The film does not seek to explain what furry is--rather, it introduces a number of self-described furries over the course of four years. Each year, another layer is pulled back to show an eclectic group of individuals struggling to come together under the same label. It also subtly documents my personal journey into the community, both as a filmmaker and as a furry. Ultimately, Fursonas uses the often-misunderstood furry fandom as a lens to explore the inevitable conflict between community and identity.

Fursonas is available to RENT on multiple streaming platforms, and streams for FREE with ADS on Vudu:

The Zoom discussion session will begin at 8:00p, Wednesday, August 12. The filmmaker will join us at 8:30p.  All Salon members will receive a Zoom invitation on August 11.

Hope to see you there!
