The Documentary Salon will, for the time being, continue as an online discussion group. It's like a book club, where you read a book and meet to discuss. But this club requires just a couple hours' commitment, and it's almost as fun as meeting in person.
Film selections will all be from free online sources, and will be member-selected. We start this month with Say Her Name: The Life and Death of Sandra Bland, a free offering from HBO, about the traffic stop that proved fatal for an African-American woman. Here's how it works:
1. Watch the film online anytime in the next 8 days.
2. On Monday, June 22, you will receive the usual reminder email from the Doc Salon. This one will have an invitation to a Zoom meeting.
3. Join the meeting at 8-9p on Wednesday, June 24.
On another note, the Salon is organizing the production of an omnibus film about the year 2020! Personal media of all types that typify this very unusual year will be collected over the next several months, and edited by Salon volunteers into...something! We'll see what we've created by the end of the year.
