MAY 2020 at the SALON

Two Events in May

TIGER TALK
The first May Salon event is a discussion of the documentary that made this strange Spring 2020 even stranger.

Tiger King has drawn an enormous viewership on Netflix--and much criticism, as well.  The attacks have come from animal rights activists, film critics, ethicists, and the cast members themselves--no surprise, as none of the lead characters come out untorched.  Of course, virtually every major documentary in the century-long history of the form has spurred controversy--from the very first hit to a lovable nature film.

The discussion will be held on Zoom, either in chat, audio, or video form.  If you would like to join in, email:  pghdocsalon@gmail.com.

BLOOD MEMORY
Years in the making, Salon member Drew Nicholas presents his multiple award-winning film about the era of coerced adoptions of Native Americans, when nearly one-third of children were removed from tribal communities nationwide.

The film is available for free screening online anytime through Friday, May 15.  A special online discussion and Q&A will be held on May 15, with the director Nicholas, storyteller Sandy White Hawk, and Stanford Law Professor Greg Ablavsky.

Go HERE to see the film and to register for the discussion.
